We all have intuitive abilities available to us that we can tap into and use in our daily lives in surprisingly effective and practical ways.
For many of us, our natural and innate intuition was not exactly nurtured or supported in our early years, and unfortunately we don’t live in a world that supports people living and making decisions from an intuitive perspective; rather a more linear and left brain approach is considered “normal,” and the acceptable way to maneuver through life.
Our modern world makes living an intuitive lifestyle more challenging. We are conditioned to be constantly stimulated by something outside of our own inner experience. Distraction from our inner being is considered normal, and we tend to spend our days in a kind of fog of the information constantly being directed at us. This can lead to a feeling of disconnection from our own inner selves, which are inherently wise and put in place to guide us.
Here are three simple and effective ways to begin tapping into our natural intuitive selves:
Meditation – A daily meditation practice is a like a baseline for getting in touch with your intuition. It does not have to be complicated or difficult, and once you get into the habit of daily meditation, you will notice that when you skip a day, you feel off, like you forgot to brush your teeth.. In meditation we allow ourselves to bring our attention inward and let go off the distraction of the outer world. As we do this practice regularly, we get more comfortable with who we are internally, and begin to familiarize ourselves with our own unique energy. When we are clear about how we feel and what is a natural state of being for us, it is easier to discern what is “ours” and what belongs to someone else energetically. Daily meditation will increase your own awareness and ability to feel and be in touch with your intuition.
- Get into the habit of listening to your body – Our bodies are telling us constantly what we need to know, but we are so used to ignoring them and letting our minds tell us information instead. Pay attention to the physical signals your receive during the day. Do you instantly get a headache when you walk into a certain business? Does your stomach go into knots when you are talking to a particular person? Do you feel relaxed and happy when you are doing a certain activity or reading a particular book? These are all ways that our intuition is communicating with us and as we learn to pause and notice how we are feeling we can then follow the sensations we are getting and either remove yourself from a situation, or keep doing what feels natural and good. The term “trust your gut” has been around for so long because it’s true Our bodies are inherently intuitive.
-
Trust – This is sometimes the most difficult part of using our intuition. We are constantly being bombarded with messages that we are somehow lacking and need an external “something” to make us whole, complete, or OK. When a feeling comes up about a person, situation, place, or yourself, take a second to just be with it. It is there for a reason. Give yourself permission to accept that feeling and trust that it came from a valid source. (more on that later). As a psychic I talk to people everyday that tell me they “have a feeling” or “just know something” about a situation in their lives. They want the validation or affirmation that what they are feeling is true, and nine times out of ten it is. When it’s not, it’s usually because they have over thought the feeling so much that the whole situation has become confusing and unclear. Trust what you feel, it will lead you to miraculous places.
When you get into a rhythm of practicing these steps on a daily basis your life will begin to feel more peaceful, and with that relaxed state of mind you will begin making intuitive choices about everything from what to eat, where to go, and where to direct your attention. Following your intuition will lead you to situations and opportunities that can literally change your life.
